22 new COVID cases in Russell Co. this week

The Kentucky Department for Public Health reported 22 new COVID cases in Russell County this week, an increase from last week’s total of 14.

Looking at other counties in the Lake Cumberland District, Taylor County had the most with 25 cases, Wayne County reported 23 cases, Pulaski County had 22 cases, Clinton County had 17 cases, Adair County reported 13 cases, Casey County had 10 cases, McCreary County had seven cases, and Green County reported five cases. Cumberland County did not report any new cases this week.

The state also reported nine individuals hospitalized in the Lake Cumberland area with COVID-19 with two being treated in intensive care units.

The statewide positivity rate is now 8.78 percent.
