Slight increase in COVID cases locally this week

The Kentucky Department for Public Health reported 22 new COVID cases in Russell County this week, an increase from last week’s total of 18.

Looking at other counties in the Lake Cumberland District, Taylor County had the most with 43 cases, Pulaski County had 41, Wayne County had 19 cases, McCreary reported 16 cases, Adair County and Casey County each had 12 cases, Green County had 11 cases, Clinton County reported eight cases, and Cumberland County had seven cases.

The state also reported six individuals hospitalized in the Lake Cumberland area with COVID-19.

The statewide positivity rate has now decreased to 9.92 percent.
