According to the Lake Cumberland District Health Department, the USDA has given notice that they are not planning to renew Kentucky WIC’s waiver to provide additional infant formula options.
Beginning on March 1st, Kentucky WIC will return to only offering Similac products.
The Similac plant reopened in July of 2022, and Similac has said that there is enough formula available for WIC families on store shelves.
Kentucky WIC will continue to monitor supply and availability and work with the USDA to ensure families have adequate access to infant formula.
