State troopers to begin wearing body cameras this year

Kentucky State Police troopers will begin wearing body cameras this year.

About 780 sworn personnel will receive the systems by the end of this year, state police said in a news release.

The state legislature approved funds to purchase body cameras for every Kentucky State Trooper, which will be integrated with cameras in KSP vehicles.

KSP is also expected to hire 28 people to help with documentation and maintenance for the new cameras.
