Russell County has highest unemployment rate in area

Russell County’s latest unemployment rate comes in at 5.4 percent, the highest in the 10-county Lake Cumberland district.

The unemployment rate in Russell County increased 0.1 percent from October to November, according to new data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.

Wayne County was at 5.1 percent, McCreary County at 4.9 percent, Adair County at 4.7 percent, Clinton 4.1 percent, Pulaski 4.3 percent, Casey County at 3.7 percent, Taylor County at 3.4 percent, Green County at 3.2 percent, and Cumberland County at 3.0 percent, which was one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.

The average unemployment in the Lake Cumberland area was at 4.2 percent.
