Burnside man hit, killed by car after helping stranded driver

A Burnside man was reportedly hit and killed by a car Thursday night after helping a stranded driver.

According to reports, 75-year-old George Lucas was traveling north on U.S. 27 in Burnside near the Pittman Creek Bridge when he stopped to help a driver in the southbound lane when he reportedly ran out of gas.

Lucas pulled over to assist the driver and help him push the car to a nearby gas station.

According to reports, as he was walking back to his own car parked on the side of the northbound lane, Lucas was hit by a car and pronounced deceased at the scene by the Pulaski County coroner.

The Pulaski County Coroner’s office is investigating, but it is believed to be an accident.
