School attendance back above 90 percent Monday

Russell County school attendance numbers were back above 90 percent on Monday following Thanksgiving break, according to Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford.

Districtwide, attendance was at 92.3 percent Monday with just Russell Springs Elementary at 89.5 percent below the 90 percent mark.

Jamestown Elementary was at 90.6 percent, Salem Elementary was 91.8 percent, Russell County Middle School was at 93.1 percent, and Russell County High School’s attendance was 94.7 percent.

Several districts in the state have called off in-person classes due to illness and low attendance in recent weeks. Ford has said that school officials take a look at whether or not to call of school when attendance falls below 90 percent for multiple days.
