Law enforcement warns of ongoing phone scams

Kentucky State Police is warning of a phone scam in the area.

Some citizens have received calls stating they are a KSP trooper and there is civil litigation against them. The caller then demands immediate payment over the phone to avoid being arrested.

The other scam is a caller who appears to be targeting registered sex offenders and requesting them send $450 to $1,000 for a DNA test or they will face arrest.

State police will not call you to inform of an arrest warrant and will not ask anyone for money, banking or personal information or make threats of arrest.

KSP does not call to collect funds or threaten arrest for unpaid fines or taxes. Officials also say to never share your Social Security Number or other personal information online or by phone.
