Russell Springs Elementary scored well on state assessments last year, according to a new report released by the Kentucky Department for Education.
Russell Springs Elementary landed in the green, or high category, overall.
The combined reading and math indicator was considered green as well, the second best outcome possible.
In the science, social studies and writing indicator, Russell Springs Elementary received a blue rating, or very high, which is the best classification.
Russell Springs Elementary greatly exceeded state averages in reading with 64 percent of students scoring proficient or distinguished compared to 45 percent statewide.
In social studies, 66 percent of RSES students scored proficient or distinguished compared to 37 percent statewide.
In combined writing, 63 percent of students scored proficient or distinguished compared to 37 percent statewide.
Russell Springs Elementary also exceeded state averages in math and science, each at least 10 percentage points higher than state average.
