The unemployment rate in Russell County fell 0.2 percent from August to September, according to new data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
Russell County’s unemployment rate comes in at 4.6 percent, which is the second-highest in the 10-county Lake Cumberland district.
McCreary County and Wayne County tied for the highest in the area at 4.7 percent. Pulaski was 4.2 percent, Adair 3.9 percent, Clinton 3.7 percent, Casey 3.2 percent, Taylor 3.1 percent, and Green County at 2.9 percent.
The average unemployment in the Lake Cumberland area was at 3.9 percent.
Neighboring Cumberland County was one of the counties with the lowest unemployment rates in the state at 2.5 percent.
