Russell County COVID numbers continue to outpace surrounding counties

The Kentucky Department for Public Health reported 29 new COVID cases in Russell County this week, down from last week’s total of 39 cases but still the highest number of COVID cases in the Lake Cumberland district for the week.

Neighboring Pulaski County had 25 cases, Taylor County reported 13, Adair County recorded 11 cases, Casey County had 10, Cumberland County had eight cases, Wayne County had seven cases while Clinton County reported two cases.

The state also reported seven individuals hospitalized in the Lake Cumberland area with COVID-19 with one of those being treated in an intensive care unit.

The statewide positivity rate is now 7.64 percent.
