Surveying has begun on new agritech center

Surveying for construction has now begun on the new Lake Cumberland Regional Agritech Center in the Lake Cumberland Regional Industrial Complex Site One park.

The agritech center is a partnership between the Russell County School District and the Russell County Industrial Development Authority, which plans to serve Russell and surrounding counties.

The training facility will offer courses to high school students and adults attending community and technical college programs after hours with coursework focusing on instruction on livestock management, animal and plant science, agricultural inspection, greenhouse management, and more.

The facility will include more than 31,000 square feet of classroom, laboratory, greenhouse, livestock, and administrative space.

Construction is being facilitated by the Industrial Development Authority with funding through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the state of Kentucky.
