The unemployment rate in Russell County fell 0.7 percent from July to August, according to new data from the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
Russell County’s unemployment rate comes in at 4.8 percent, which remains tied for the second-highest in the 10-county Lake Cumberland area with Wayne County.
McCreary County had the highest in the area at 5.1 percent.
The average unemployment in the Lake Cumberland area was at 4.1 percent.
Neighboring Cumberland County was one of the counties with the lowest unemployment rates in the state at 2.7 percent.
