Betty Jean Wooldridge Lawless Aaron, age 82, of Jamestown

Betty Jean Wooldridge Lawless Aaron, of Jamestown, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Russell County Hospital.  She was 82 years of age.

Betty was born in the Swan Pond Community of Russell County on December 30, 1939, daughter of the late Felix and Lura Hadley Wooldridge.  She married Herbert Hue Lawless on August 3, 1957, and together, they raised two sons and two daughters.  Betty was bookkeeper for her husband’s contracting business, Herb’s Construction.  She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Jamestown for over 50 years.

Betty was an excellent cook.  She prepared three big meals a day for her husband and family, that included a dessert with every meal.  Betty would feed Herbert’s work crew from her dining table, as well.  She was known for her chicken and dumplings, her fried apple pies and her chocolate gravy.

She loved to quilt and sew, making clothing for her children.  She loved to fish, raise her garden and can the rewards from it.  Betty enjoyed playing cards, working puzzles and playing games.

She is survived by her children, David (and Sherry) Lawless, of Jamestown, Ronnie (and Pamela) Lawless, of Jamestown, Sandra (and Mike) Bunch, of Jamestown, and Ladonna (and David) Thompson, of Noblesville, Indiana; her brother, Charles (and Samantha) Wooldridge, of Noblesville, Indiana; her sister, Fettie (and Carlton) Guffey, of Noblesville, Indiana; her grandchildren, Bradley Bunch, Brian Bunch, Jacob Thompson, Kelli Thompson, Amber Huff and Kara Sims; and her nine great-grandchildren.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Lura Wooldridge; her first husband, Herbert Lawless; her second husband, Henry “Sonny” Aaron; and her sisters, Vida Warriner and Barbara Hadley.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 4, 2022, in the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Jesse Jewell officiating.  Interment will follow in Hadley Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 3, 2022, and after 8:00 a.m., Sunday, in the funeral home chapel, until time for services.
