School pickup times changing this year

As reported multiple times leading up to the upcoming school year, the Russell County School District has adopted a new policy affecting student pick-up times at each school.

Vehicles will not be permitted to enter school campuses for student pick-up line prior to 15 minutes before the school’s time of dismissal.

School officials are asking parents and guardians to avoid lining up and disrupting road traffic around the schools prior to the designated pickup time.

At Russell County High School, Russell County Middle School and Jamestown Elementary, parents can begin entering the school campus for pickup beginning at 2:15.

At Salem Elementary, parents can enter the pickup line at 2:25 and at Russell Springs Elementary, parents can enter the school campus at 2:27 p.m.

These changes are being made due to state recommendations for school safety.
