The Russell County Fiscal Court, County Clerk’s Office, and County Judge Executive’s Office are examining the possibility of purchasing new voting machines to use in county elections.
County Clerk-Elect Patti Glover was on hand to talk with magistrates at Monday’s fiscal court meeting where Judge Executive Gary Robertson said the county inquired about new voting machines.
Glover said the new machines, which would come at a cost of $203,931, would cover 16 voting precincts and early voting.
Robertson said he believes new legislation passed would make that expense reimbursable, but he’s waiting on confirmation that is certain.
If it isn’t reimbursable, Robertson said the county could look at using American Rescue Plan Act funds to help cover the cost.
