Wilbur K. Barnes, 90, of Jamestown, KY, passed away Thursday, May 26th, at his residence surrounded by family.
Wilbur was born in Rowena, KY on February 14, 1932, a son of the late Martha (Gaines) and Beckham B. Barnes.
He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Columbia Christian Church.
He was a retired Superintendent of Schools, other positions he held in the school system were Teacher, Principal, and Head of Transportation.
Wilbur is survived by
wife Margie (Rigsby) Barnes, of Jamestown, KY; two sons B.B. (Paula) Barnes, and Brad Barnes, of Jamestown, KY; a sister, Mary Ann Dabney, of Jamestown, KY; a brother, Roger Barnes, of Russell Springs, KY; granddaughter Jalena (Garrett) Bryant, of Jamestown, KY;
He is also survived by great granddaughter Jacklyn Bryant, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Lane Barnes.
Funeral Service will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 29th at H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY with Bro. Terry White, Bro. Roger Garner, and Pastor John Davis officiating.
Friends may visit after 12:00 PM on Sunday, May 29th at H. E. Pruitt Memory Chapel in Jamestown, KY.
Interment at Wheat Cemetery Jamestown, KY.
