School board votes to reconfigure youth services centers

The Russell County Board of Education voted to reconfigure the school district’s youth services centers at this week’s board meeting.

The school district was approved for an additional Youth Service Center and funding for a new director.

The new configuration will allow for a middle school center separate from the high school.

With the new configuration, Russell Springs Elementary will now be a stand-alone center and Salem Elementary will combine with Jamestown Elementary while Russell County Middle School and Russell County High School will each have stand-alone centers.

The move was approved unanimously by the board, and the school district has begun the process of hiring a director for the new middle school center.
