A man in neighboring Wayne County was convicted on rape charges on Thursday.
Jose Anibal Figuerda Sanchez, age 48, was convicted on five counts of rape in the first degree and four counts of rape in the third degree following prosecution by Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s Special Prosecutions Unit.
According to a release from the attorney general’s office, Sanchez repeatedly raped a 14-year-old from June to November 2016 and had abused the teenager since the age of five.
A jury recommended a sentence of 70 years with sentencing scheduled for June 21, 2022.
