Luttrell, Lawson combine for 29 strikeouts in weekend tournament

The Laker Baseball team went to Louisville over the weekend, splitting a pair of games with one win and one loss.

The Lakers lost to Male High School on Friday by a score of 2-0.

Nathan Lawson put forth a strong performance, pitching six innings and giving up just two runs on four hits and striking out 12 batters.

However, the Lakers were only able to garner one hit on the day, which didn’t come until the sixth inning, a Bryce Cowell single.

The Lakers bounced back with a big win on Saturday, a 15-1 win over Butler High School.

Cody Luttrell put together an excellent performance, striking out 17 of 27 batters while only giving up one run on four hits.

Nick Aaron finished with a team-high 3 hits and 3 RBI on the day, and Bryce Cowell and Evan Hammond each drove in a pair of runs along with a pair of hits for each.

The Lakers are off today before hosting Cumberland County in district play tomorrow.
