Russell County Schools to host film screening and dialogue

Russell County Schools, in conjunction with BOUNCE and the Lake Cumberland District Health Department will be hosting a viewing of the one-hour documentary “Resilience: The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope” along with a discussion featuring Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford and licensed psychologist Dr. Joe Bargione next Tuesday, March 8.
Bargione is a leader of the Bounce Coalition, which aims to inform and educate about the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and skills to help children bounce back from adversity.
Ford will also discuss the steps the school district has taken to become a leader in trauma-informed practices.
The film viewing and discussion will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the Russell County Auditorium/Natatorium Complex. Childcare will be provided.

About the film: RESILIENCE: THE BIOLOGY OF STRESS & THE SCIENCE OF HOPE is a one-hour documentary that discusses the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) and birth of a new movement using cutting-edge brain science to disrupt cycles of violence, addiction and disease. Physicians, educators, students, judges, police, social workers and communities are talking about the effects of divorce, abuse and neglect and helping people bounce back from adversity.
