The Russell County High School Laker Dance team competed this past weekend at the Crown Dance National Championship in Louisville. Laker dancers took part in two divisions, Lyrical and Hip Hop, and after scores were tabulated, Russell County High School came home with first place in each division and two national championships.

The team consists of two student-athletes from the middle school, Lilly Williams and Abby Fox. RCHS student-athletes are Olivia Thomas, Alexis Fox, Madison Caldwell, Brooklyn Walker, Mia Keen, Nikita Walker and graduating seniors, Morgan Taylor and Audrey Popplewell.

The team expressed sincere thanks for the outpouring of support by the community in their fundraising efforts to attend nationals.

The team is led by Head Coach Amanda Turner and Assistant Coach Alissa Thomas.

The team will celebrate their “undefeated season” in a banquet on Tuesday, March 29th at Common Grounds in Russell Springs. After that, they plan to take several weeks off before clinics and try-outs begin once again. Laker Dance is open to Russell County students in 6th grade through 12th grade.
