Cumberland Parkway project to begin Monday

A pavement rehabilitation and improvement project is scheduled to begin Monday, March 14th, on the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 8 office in Somerset.

The project will consist of shoulder repairs, grade, drain and ditching improvements along with milling and paving operations.

Work will require lane closures – both east and westbound – between Exit 62 (Russell Springs) and mile point 72 (Pulaski County line).

Motorists are reminded to pay close attention to highway signs and be prepared for traffic shifts through the duration of the project.

In addition, the speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph through the work zone and double fines will be in effect.

All work is expected to be complete by August 21st.

The start date and duration of work may be adjusted for inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays.

Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to allow extra time in reaching their destination.
