‘Hit and Run’ suspect still at large after fleeing from authorities

The Adair County Sheriff’s office has located a white Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck that was involved in a hit and run collision earlier this week but the driver remains unaccounted for.

Deputies in neighboring Adair County observed the vehicle Wednesday morning on Russell Road around 9:30 a.m. and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, leading the deputies on a pursuit. The vehicle left the roadway near the Adair-Russell county line and struck an earthen embankment.

Adair Sheriff Josh Brockman said the driver ditched the vehicle and headed into the woods where multiple deputies from Russell and Adair counties, along with Kentucky State Police Troopers, searched for the driver but were unsuccessful.

Brockman said the driver has been identified and is not a resident of Adair County. Warrants of arrest will be obtained by Deputy Gary Roy for the collision earlier this week and charges related to the pursuit.
