Russell County Schools remaining mask-optional

While some school districts have re-introduced mask mandates, others have stuck with a mask-optional policy and Russell County Schools decided to continue with a mask-optional policy at Monday night’s board of education meeting.

Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford brought the issue up during the meeting as a planned agenda item, but said he was not recommending to the board one way or another.

No vote was taken on the issue, as board members agreed amongst themselves that they didn’t want to take any action on the issue.

Masks remain optional on Russell County Schools campuses for students, staff, and visitors, except for on buses per a CDC order and at the Lake Cumberland Regional College and Workforce Center due to a KDE order.
