The Russell County Middle School Basketball teams won 2 of 3 over Clinton County Thursday night with the 7th and 8th grade teams coming away victorious.
In the 8th grade game, the Lakers came away with a 60-44 win. Noah McMillin led the scoring with 15 points, followed by Dylan Stanelle with 13, and Max Davis and Maddox Shearer with 11 points each. Kinnett Wills added 3 points for the Lakers, while Noah Bennett, Bryson Irvin, and Walker Stephens each scored 2 and Webber Wilson scored 1 point.
The 7th graders won 48-26, with Alex Norton leading the scoring at 15 points. Tanner Stringer and Gabe Browning each finished with 9 points, and Tyson Stille and Mannix Bell finished with 6 points each. Cameron Bolin added 2 points for the Lakers, and Jay Helm scored 1 point.
The 6th graders fell short by a score of 36-11. Archer Hart was the leading scorer for the Lakers with 3 points, followed by Myles Davis, Will Coffey and Brody Terry with 2 points each and Christian Williams and Bentley Rankins with 1 point each.
The middle school Lakers will have a few weeks off before returning to action on January 6 when they host Casey County.
