Lady Laker Volleyball wins on the road at Cumberland County

The Russell County Lady Laker Volleyball team went on the road and defeated district rival Cumberland County on Monday three sets to zero.

The Lady Lakers took the first set 25-6, followed by a 25-14 win in the second and 25-12 in the third.

Briley Murray led the team with six kills, followed by Rachel Webb with 5, Kenzie Kelsey with 3, and Sophie Shearer and Emery Kate Robertson with 1 each.

Murray, Shearer, and Robertson each finished with one block.

Avery Hart led the team with 17 assists, and Olivia Pierce led the team with 4 service aces.

The JV team also came away with a win, two sets to zero by a score of 21-10 in both sets. The freshman team won two sets to 0 by scores of 21-6 and 21-7.

The Lady Lakers are back at home tonight as they host Allen County-Scottsville. Freshman, JV, and varsity teams will be in action beginning at 5:30 p.m.
