Russell County Schools will be going virtual the rest of the week using NTI days through Friday, Sept. 3.
Superintendent Michael Ford said too many school staff are out sick and the district has a large number of COVID positive students and employees.
All sports and extra curricular activities this week are also suspended.
The plan is to return to in-person instruction on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
