Three injured during fireworks accident in Green County

Three people were reported injured during a Fourth of July Fireworks show Sunday night in Greensburg.

According to officials, the incident occurred following the Freedom Fest Concert at the Green County Cattlemen’s Association farm on Highway 68, when one of the pyrotechnic displays apparently exploded in the launching tube. Three men working the exhibition suffered non-life threatening injuries, including burns, and some light shrapnel wounds.

All three were treated at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg and released. Emergency officials on the scene credit Emergency Medical Personnel, including an Air Evac Flight nurse, with “quick action”, that apparently aided in the immediate treatment of those injured.

The incident occurred during the closing Fireworks display, celebrating the July 4th concert by the group Shenandoah.
