Russell County unemployment down drastically in April

As the economy took a massive hit at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Russell County’s unemployment numbers hit a staggering 22.6 percent last April.

With vaccines being rolled out and the economy regaining momentum in April 2021, Russell County’s unemployment numbers rebounded well, falling to 4.4 percent last month.

The Kentucky Center for Statistics shows 256 Russell Countians unemployed as of the last report.

Unemployment rates fell in all 120 counties between April 2020 and April 2021.
