The Russell County Middle School Baseball team advanced to the state quarterfinals with a 15-0 win over Anderson County on Thursday.
Ayden McGowan got the start for the Lakers, pitching three scoreless innings and giving up just one hit.
Mayes Gosser entered in relief, pitching the final inning to secure the shutout.
At the plate, Gosser led the way, going 4-4 and driving in three runs. Jack Shearer went 2-2 with 2 RBI including a home run.
Owen Loy and Mason Jasper also drove in two runs for the Lakers.
Jake Campbell and Carter Stapp drove in one run each.
The Lakers will play the winner of Southern Pulaski and Paintsville Middle School on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.
