Laker JV Baseball team picks up two wins over Madison Southern

The Russell County JV Baseball team picked up two wins over Madison Southern on Saturday.

In the first game, the Lakers came away with a 6-1 victory. Aiden Antle picked up the win on the mound, pitching five innings and giving up just one run on three hits, striking out four batters.

Bryce Cowell drove in two runs for the Lakers, and Logan Lawless drove in a run as well. Trace Stringer and Brady Bell also added hits for the Lakers.

The second game ended in walk-off fashion as Riley Hammond hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the fifth that scored Bryce Cowell to give the Lakers a 6-5 win.

Lincoln Helm pitched 3 2/3 innings for the Lakers, giving up three runs on five hits and striking out four batters.

Logan Lawless led the team with two hits on the day.

With the two wins, the JV Lakers are now 14-2 on the season.
