Cain indicted on murder charge, couple indicted on rape and sexual abuse charges

A Russell Springs man was indicted on murder and four counts of assault yesterday.

The superseding indictment against 28-year-old Haiden Cain handed down yesterday includes charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence, speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, and failure to give an oncoming vehicle half of the highway.

The charges stem from a car crash in May 2020, in which law enforcement officials said Cain was traveling north on Highway 127 when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a non-passing zone and collided with a vehicle operated by Darrell McClure.

Cain’s vehicle left the roadway and flipped multiple times. The crash resulted in the death of 26-year-old Janson Sallee, a passenger in Cain’s vehicle. Two individuals in the other vehicle were flown from the scene of that wreck and two minors in the McClure vehicle escaped serious injury, law enforcement said at the time.

A Jamestown couple was also indicted in Russell County yesterday.

Johnny D. Hensley, age 38, and Rebecca Hensley, age 33, were indicted on multiple sex crimes.

Johnny Hensley was indicted on charges of rape first degree and sodomy first degree.

Rebecca Hensley was indicted on four counts of sexual abuse first degree, complicity to rape first degree, complicity to sodomy first degree, and two counts of assault second degree.

The two were indicted together on three counts of use of a minor in a sexual performance and being persistent felony offenders.

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation.
