16th District Tournament play begins this weekend for the Russell County High School Baseball and Softball teams.
The Laker Baseball team starts things off on Sunday at 2 p.m. when the Lakers take on Metcalfe County at Edmonton Memorial Park. The Lakers took both regular-season matchups over the Hornets by a score of 10-0 each game.
The Baseball District Championship will be played on Monday at 2 p.m. at Edmonton Memorial Park.
The Lady Laker Softball team will take the field at 4 p.m. on Sunday for a matchup against Cumberland County at Metcalfe County High School. The Lady Lakers defeated Cumberland County 15-0 in the two squad’s only regular-season matchup.
The Softball District Championship will be played on Monday at Noon at Metcalfe County High School.
