Lady Laker Softball falls short at Metcalfe County

The Russell County Lady Laker Softball team’s seventh-inning rally fell just short Thursday night as the Lady Lakers lost 5-4 to district rival Metcalfe County.

The Lady Lakers trailed 5-1 entering the seventh inning, and scored three runs in the inning, but left the tying run on base as Russell County suffered its first loss of the season.

Natalie Hart pitched six innings for the Lady Lakers, giving up 10 hits and 5 runs (2 earned), and striking out 6 batters.

Caroline Wells led the way for the Lady Lakers at the plate, finishing 3-4 with an RBI. Payton Kinnett and Sophie Shearer also drove in runs for the Lady Lakers.

The Lady Lakers are now 5-1 on the season.
