Increase in coyote sightings in Kentucky

This time of year is coyote breeding season, and that means an increase in the number of coyote sightings across the state.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife said that coyote sightings are frequent this time of year and encourages people to take some extra steps to protect themselves and their pets.

Simple things like avoiding leaving pet food outside and cleaning your grill can lessen the chance of a coyote encounter.

The department said coyotes generally avoid human contact, but can become aggressive if cornered.
