Russell County sees growth in voter registration in 2020

Recent reports from the Kentucky Secretary of State’s Office show that voter registration grew in Russell County in 2020.

A report from Dec. 2019 shows that Russell County had 14,176 registered voters in the county, and in Dec. 2020, there were 14,519, a net growth of 343.

In terms of that bump in registration, most of it went to the Republican Party. There were 295 Republican registrations and the number of independents jumped from 328 to 379. The number of registered Democrats fell by 19.

The report from the Secretary of State’s office was released on Dec. 15, 2020.
