Update on school food service program

Russell County Schools Food Service Director Keith Emerson provided this update about changes coming to the school district’s food service program.

Starting on Monday, November 30th and continuing throughout the month of December, Russell County Food Service will be providing a 3rd meal (supper) for all students/children when picking up their meals. Meals are available for pick-up at one of our 3 elementary schools from 11:00-12:00 each day M-F. When picking up meals on Fridays, each student/child will receive additional meals for the weekend which will include 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 supper meals along with a ½ gallon of milk.
All students/children 18 years and under are eligible to participate. Meal deliveries will continue to be on Wednesdays with each student/child receiving 7 days of meals (breakfast, lunch, supper). If you are a neighbor or friend of a family that has students/children and believe they would benefit from receiving the extra meals, you are allowed to pick the meals up and deliver to them. We will just need the name of the students/children and the name of the person picking up the food. If you would like to pick up a 7-day meal kit on Wednesday for a student/child, please contact the FRC coordinator at the school where you will be picking up the meals and give them the information. Please contact Keith Emerson (Food Service Director) at 270-866-6300 if you need any additional information.
