Start of High School Basketball Delayed Until January 4th

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control has voted to delay the start of high school basketball across the state until January 4th.

Meeting Wednesday in Frankfort, the board of control made the much expected decision.    The high school basketball season was originally scheduled to start on Monday, Nov. 23.   The Russell County Laker boys and girls teams were set to open their season next Tuesday, the 24th, at home against Somerset.

“I can’t, in clear conscience, recommend that high school basketball games start Monday (Nov. 23),” KHSAA commissioner Julian Tackett stated yesterday prior to the board’s meeting.

Russell County High School Athletic Director Michael Carpenter will join Jeff Hoover and Tony Kerr on “All Things Russell” at 8:00 a.m. Friday on Laker Country 1049 WJRS to discuss the KHSAA action.
