Laker Sports Report for Friday, October 2nd

In Laker Sports action Thursday night:

***The Lady Laker soccer team won their second game in a row as they defeated Washington County at Laker field, 7 t0 3.   The girls soccer team will be at home again on Monday night at 6 o’clock as they host Casey County.

***The Lady Laker volleyball lost two close games to one of the area’s top ranked teams, the Lady Dawgs of Clinton County.   Clinton County recently won the All “A” 4th region tournament and will play Saturday in the state tournament, defeated the Lady Lakers in the first game 25 to 14.   But the Lakers gave the district’s top team all they could handle in the next two games before falling to Clinton 25 to 23 and 26 to 24.   The Lady Lakers will be at home next Tuesday night to play Somerset Christian.   The Laker JV lost to Clinton County 2 to 0.

***The RCMS 8th grade football team traveled to Somerset to take on the Briar Jumpers and lost a heartbreaker.   The Laker 8th grade team scored a touchdown with only six seconds left to take a lead over the home team, but the Laker touchdown was nullified on a penalty.   The Laker 8th graders lost a close one, 15 to 14.
