Judge Executive Gary Robertson asks community to follow COVID guidelines

Russell County Judge Executive Gary Robertson issued a statement Tuesday afternoon, encouraging Russell County citizens to follow CDC guidelines to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

In his statement, Robertson said he was on a conference call with other judge-executives from around the state and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear. Robertson said he hopes that the community buying in and taking the precautions will result in lower numbers of positive cases in the community moving forward.

Robertson’s statement can be read in full below.

Russell County Judge-Executive Gary Robertson is asking Russell County residents to follow CDC guidelines to protect themselves and others against COVID-19.

“I have just gotten off a conference call with County Judges and Mayors from all across the state. Gov. Beshear was also on the call. Our active COVID-19 case numbers are slowly increasing over the past couple of weeks. I am asking for all citizens of Russell County to try to be more diligent in taking precautions when you are out in public. Please try to social distance, wear a mask when you are around other people and wash your hands as suggested by health officials. Try this for the next 2 to 3 weeks and let’s see if we can reduce our cases here in Russell County. This might keep us from having any kind of outbreak in the coming weeks. Thanks to everyone.”
