In Laker sports action from Tuesday:
***The Russell County Middle School girls basketball team was on the road at Cumberland County. In the 7th grade game, the Lakers lost to Cumberland, 32 to 22. Carrigan Carpenter was the leading scorer with 6 points. In the 8th grade game, the Lakers won a close one, defeating Cumberland County 40 to 36. Rachel Bolin led the Lakers with 16 points. Both 7th and 8th grade girls will be at home on Thursday to take on Adair County.
***In middle school football, the RCMS Lakers defeated Adair County 42 to 6 in a game played at Ron Finley Field. The Lakers improve to 2 and 0 on the season.
