Laker Sports Report for Tuesday, September 22nd

In Laker Sports action from Monday:

***Big shout out and congratulations to Coach Charlie Anderson and the Laker boys golf team which captured the 16th District championship Monday afternoon at Dale Hollow Lake State Park.    The Lakers shot a team total of 151 to beat second place Clinton County by 19 strokes.   Clay Anderson led the Lakers with a 36, which was good for 2nd place in the individual standings.   Dru Stapp had a 37, and Nick Blakey and Bentley Perkeson both shot a 39.    Braxton Massengale of Clinton County was the top individual with a 35.

***The Lady Laker volleyball team was at home on Monday for a matchup with Rockcastle County.   The Laker JV won their match, 2 games to 1.   The Laker varsity lost to Rockcastle county, 2 to 0.  Both teams will be in action on Tuesday as they travel to Southwestern High School in Somerset.

***The Russell County Middle School girls basketball team was on the road Monday night at Casey County.   In the 7th grade game, the Lakers lost to Casey County, 33 to 10.   Carrigan Carpenter had 4 points for the Laker.   In the 8th grade game, Russell County got the win, 44 to 21.   Rachel Bolin had a big night for the Lakers, finishing with 24 points and 12 rebounds.   The girls will be action on Tuesday when they travel to Cumberland County.

***In high school soccer on Monday, the Laker boys were at home, but lost to Wayne County, 3 to 0.   The Lady Laker soccer team lost at Wayne County 10 to 0.

***The Russell County Middle School football team will be at home at Tuesday to take on Adair County.   Kickoff set for 6 o’clock Tuesday at Ron Finley Field.
