Kentucky Board of Education set to discuss KHSAA and fall sports on Friday

The Kentucky Board of Education has scheduled a special-called meeting for Friday at 11 a.m. CT and the agenda includes discussion about the KHSAA and fall sports, which includes “discussion and possible action to authorize the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to develop written communication to be issued to the KHSAA Board of Control’s by KBE Chair Young on behalf of the KBE urging additional consideration of alternative options for high-contact fall sports.”

Earlier this week, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he would allow the KHSAA plan to proceed, which allowed practices for fall sports to begin this week with competition beginning on Sept. 7 for fall sports beside football, which would begin Sept. 11.

Russell County High School fall sports such as football, volleyball, cross country, and others began practices this week.

The meeting can be accessed virtually through the Kentucky Department of Education Media Portal, which can be found here.
