RC Fiscal Court Met Monday

Two bids from a long time supplier to Russell County government were not accepted last night by the Russell County Fiscal court. Jeff Hoover files this report for WJRS Local News…

Several bids were accepted by county magistrates during the fiscal court meeting last night.

The magistrates accepted two janitorial bids, one from Norvex Supply and one from Hillyard Company. Southern Petroleum Company submitted the only bid for fuel and was awarded that contract.

The court also accepted a bid from Atwood Concrete and Plumbing in Liberty to provide tile for road work.  It was noted that local businesses, Hubbard’s Building Supply and Wilson and Sons, were already on the bid list and the addition of Atwood would allow the county the flexibility to purchase at the cheapest price.

In other action, the court approved its annual contribution to the Russell County Industrial Development Authority of $5,000, heard a report from Jailer Bobby Dunbar, and changed the names of a couple of county roads.
