Richmond Man Wanted for Attempted Murder in Ohio Arrested in RC

A Kentucky man, wanted on an attempted murder charge out of Ohio, was arrested early Saturday morning in Russell County.

According to information received by WJRS Local News, Russell Springs Police officer Lucas Justice was contacted by 9-1-1 officials in Somerset, seeking his help in stopping an automobile.   Officer Justice located the vehicle and it was stopped near the Five Star store on highway 127, near the Cumberland Parkway.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Justice made contact with 55-year-old Steven Hunter of Richmond.   Justice then learned that Hunter had an active, valid extradition warrant for his arrest on an attempted murder charge from Ohio.

After placing Hunter under arrest, a search of his vehicle led to additional charges of possession of a controlled substance first degree, first offense, being methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hunter was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center shortly after 1 a.m. on Saturday.   Assisting Officer Justice were Jamestown Police Officer Jeremy England and Pulaski County Officer Nicholas Barber.
