Local Unemployment Statistics

Russell County’s current unemployment rate stands at 4.8 percent, down from 5.1 percent in September 2018.

Adair County’s rate was 4.3 percent, Casey County was 3.8 percent, Cumberland County was 3.1 percent, Clinton County was 4.4 percent, Wayne County was 5 percent, Taylor County 3.9 percent and Pulaski County was at 4.3 percent.

Unemployment rates rose in 18 Kentucky counties between September 2018 and September 2019, fell in 91 and stayed the same in 11 counties, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

Fayette, Oldham, and Woodford counties all recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 2.8 prevent each. Harlan County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 11.9 percent.
