Fiscal Court Approves Tax Rates for Hospital, EMS and Library

The Russell County Fiscal Court approved proposed tax rates for three local taxing districts during its regular monthly meeting Monday morning.

The court accepted rates for Russell County EMS, the Russell County Public Library and Russell County Hospital.

The Russell County Hospital tax rate will be 4.6 cents per $100 of assessed value on real property and 9.2 cents on tangible and personal property.

Hospital CEO Scott Thompson noted the hospital’s tax rates had been lowered each of the previous two years.

The Russell County Ambulance Tax will be set at 6.4 cents on real property and 9.2 cents on tangible and personal property.

Library Director Cody Gabehart told the court the library board proposed lowering its real property tax rate from 5.9 cents to 5.8 cents. The library’s tangible and personal property rate will remain unchanged at 6.7 cents per $100 of assessed value.
