A Nicholasville man reportedly drowned late Saturday night at Safe Harbor Grider Hill Marina on Lake Cumberland near Albany.
The emergency call was received by Clinton County Dispatch shortly after 11 p.m. Albany Fire and Clinton County EMS responded after a man reportedly fell from a dock into the water and did not resurface.
Russell County Search and Rescue personnel, including members of the dive team, were called shortly before midnight to assist.
Russell County Search and Rescue Chief Chris Money told WJRS News that the Campbellsville-Taylor County Rescue Squad was requested to respond with its R-O-V, an unmanned submersible vehicle. The unit located the victim’s body in approximately 111 feet of water and brought it to the surface early Sunday morning.
Clinton County Coroner Lonnie Scott told WJRS NEWS he was called to the scene at approximately 5:45 Sunday morning. Scott identified the victim as 66-year-old Mark Fritz of Nicholasville.
The body will be taken to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
