The Russell Springs City Council approved a resolution Thursday evening supporting the addition of a walking and bicycle lane as part of proposed improvements to U.S. 127 between Russell Springs and Jamestown.
Officials said the project would come at no cost to the city.
The council also heard the first reading of an ordinance establishing the city’s annual property-tax rates for real estate, motor vehicles, motorboats and other personal property. Specific rates will be included during the second reading next month, but city officials said no increase is anticipated.
In other action, the council declared several pieces of city property as surplus, including commercial mowers and vehicles. The items will be offered through a public bidding process and will soon be placed behind City Hall for inspection.
Mayor Eddie Thomas said anyone interested should watch GOV dot com soon for the items and to bid.
